Troma Ngondro Accumulation Retreat
Friday, October 25th through Sunday the 27th
Optional Pre-retreat October 24th
with Loppon Yudron and Sangha
The Troma ngondro group, which has been meeting online for many months, is very excited to announce our first retreat together! It will be a Troma Ngondro accumulation retreat in person at the Mayum Mountain practice space in Copperopolis, California.
Many people all over are accumulating Troma Ngondro right now, not only in our group. You are all warmly to come and have the experience of doing it with the support of others. The retreat schedule is on the website at mayummountain.org/upcoming-retreats. Scroll down to find it.
This is not a teaching retreat about the practice. You should already be oriented to the meaning of the ngondro. You will learn from others by doing it with them. Loppon will be there to assist, and speak if requested.
The retreat is free, there will be a small contribution for food and supplies, based on cost. This is a private view home on 1.3 acres of land on the outskirts of a small quiet town. If you are interested in attending, email us, and we will talk about accommodations based on your age, health, and whether you can tent or not. We have a cook who is planning really wonderful vegetarian food for people for a big Indian lunch and smaller dinner. Breakfast food will be available to make your own or collaborate. It is okay to bring or ask for non-veg additions.
The optional pre-retreat will be an informal Troma torma-making workshop the evening before.
Zoom Option: We will offer a zoom option if a person or persons commit to doing personal retreat at home and tell Loppon about it ahead of time. Otherwise, we will not. The torma workshop will not be Zoomed.
Air Travel: The nearest airport is Sacramento: 1.75 hours away. If you want to come on Thursday late afternoon, a sangha member may be able to pick you up. Email us for more info. There is also a guy in the area who will do pickups and drop offs for a price if he is available: Jerry's Airport Shuttle Services 209 576 5193. The Oakland and San Jose airports are a little farther. Don't fly in to San Francisco.
Traffic: I-580 and I-680 coming from the Bay Area is jammed with traffic from 3 pm to 6:30 pm weekdays. It's an easy drive in the morning, counter commute.
Train Travel: The nearest Amtrak station is the Stockton San Joaquins station on the San Joaquins line. If you would like to do that, pre plan with us a couple of weeks ahead (before buying your ticket) so we can send someone to get you.
Other: There is no Uber, Lyft or bus. Rental car is probably your best bet.
Rules: There will be an agreement that everyone will be asked sign to act in accordance with normal Buddhist values. This has not been drafted yet.
